Summary The Research Administrator Lead will provide leadership and support to the Large-Scale Proposal Programas well as one or more institutes or centers in the School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS). Thisposition will be responsible for continuing to build efficient pre- and post-award services, providing solidstewardship and planning to serve the support needs of SEAS faculty.SEAS seeks a Research Administrator Lead to provide leadership and support in the submission andadvancement of complex large-scale grant proposals for the school, and will manage pre- and post-awardactivities for one or more of our major institutes or centers. The successful candidate will have advancedknowledge of principles, practices and procedures used in research administration, and will use thisknowledge to continue to build-on our high level of customer service. This position is part of the SEASresearch administrative team reporting to the Research Administration Senior Manager. Coordinate proposal requirements with additional internal and external participants. Set and manage timeline milestones in proposal preparation. Submit grant proposals and unfunded agreements through the University's eRPM proposal submission system.Post-award duties Track and oversee project financial status, provide quarterly financial reports for an institute or center and its project investigators. Establish sub-project grants and subcontracts. Approve initial financial transactions, such as Concur and procurement. Prepare and submit post-award change requests. DBE processing for projects and journal entries. FSRs and other documents as needed. Monitor and ensure research compliance with all regulations imposed by sponsors and the University of Michigan. Track research group discretionary and research incentive funds, expendable restricted funds, and designated activity.The Research Administrator Lead will provide direct supervision to the Research AdministratorIntermediate, including but not limited to, goal setting, annual reviews, interviews, hiring, training, timesheetapproval, coaching, etc. Research Administrator Intermediate will support their own group of faculty, butmay assist the Lead position with document gathering for large-scale proposal submissions Required Qualifications* Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience. 5+ years of direct pre- and post-award experience. Considerable experience with various federal, foundation, and industry sponsors Demonstrated experience with university administrative and business tools such as Business Objects, MReports, eResearch, Concur and other tools that would enable effective oversight and stewardship of sponsored projects. Advanced skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Demonstrated competence in analyzing financial reports, detailed knowledge of general financial activities, transaction processing and fund accounting are required. Demonstrated experience with cultivating partnerships with a variety of constituents across multiple units and functional areas. Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills are essential. This position is a higher level of research administration and an experienced research administrator with capacity to contribute from the 1st day of work is sought. Desired Qualifications* Master's degree - finance/research or related degree; research administration certification from an accredited organization. 3+ years of administrative supervision and training experience. Demonstrated experience with multi-project financial management and projection experience. Experience in leadership roles working with teams. Certified Research Administrator (CRA).
