Job Description Job Description Salary: Traffic Electrical Technician I starts at $52,600.00 and Engineering Inspector II starts at $62,500.00 Duties Performs a broad range of activities related to traffic engineering including conducting joint field layouts with signal contractors and utility companies for traffic signal and overhead sign installations. Inspects more difficult or extensive road and signal projects involving Federal Aid Funding, requiring accurate and detailed recordkeeping, subject to audit. Inspects work by contractors to ensure proper methods, procedures and materials are used during installation (including troubleshooting). Prepares and distributes accurate Traffic Signal paperwork for field installations. Provides direction and coordinates the work of other inspectors (including third party contractors) when required. Calculates volumes and areas of complex shapes. Performs inspection on traffic signal installation and modernization work done by contractors. Keeps accurate records of contractor work. Lays out, programs, troubleshoots and maintains vehicle detection systems. Attends meetings as required by supervision. Must perform duties in a professional and courteous manner to promote a positive image of the Road Commission for Oakland County. Requires a daily schedule that supports RCOC hours of operation. Regular and predictable on-site job attendance is an essential function of this position. Special Experience/Education A high school diploma or equivalent, with additional technical training in mathematics, electricity/electronics which would normally be acquired in the first year of college or technical school, is required. Knowledge of Field Manager, AASHTOWare, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office are preferred. Availability and willingness to work overtime as required. A minimum of 1 year of experience commensurate with the duties described above is required. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Michigan Drivers License.
