EECS/ECE seeks a highly motivated, organized, and proactive professional to perform electronics engineering tasks for several large government funded research projects. The selected applicant will perform routine work in assembly, testing, calibration, and repair of electrical or electronic tools, using printed circuit boards, passive and active soldered components, and other laboratory equipment.

Responsibilities*

70%: Assembly, testing, and calibration; Perform wire bonding and ball bonding on ASICs, probes, and other micro-sized devices to be used for research and development; Soldering and solder-reflow of custom parts and SMDs to PCBs and custom prototype boards; Hand assembly of miniature electronic or optoelectronic systems using microscopes, micro-forceps, and vacuum tool applicators; Conduct calibration and reliability testing of the electrical and/or optical properties of miniature assemblies

20%: Engineering solutions to increase yield and throughput; Longevity testing and failure analysis; Automation to enhance throughput

10%: Data and inventory management; documentation of electrical test results and data management; inventory control

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor's Degree in applicable field; 2 years experience in Nano assembly; Proficiency in Python, LabVIEW, Excel/Google sheets, 3D CAD Software; Basic knowledge of Java, C, C++, PCB Design Software

Desired Qualifications*

Bachelor's degree in EECS; hands-on experience with small electrical components; proficiency of assembly of parts under a microscope; Two (2) plus years of experience in soldering fine pitch SMT and through hole PCB Assemblies. Ability to enter data into Excel or database program. Experience with industry standards such as IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001. Detail oriented with excellent documentation practices.

Additional Information

This is a one year term-limited appointment with possibility of renewal for one additional year if funding is extended. At the end of the term, the appointment will terminate and will not be eligible for Reduction in Force (RIF) benefits.
