Job Description:

Who We Are:

The Electronics and Support team provides technical support to enable design, development, and analysis on components, batteries, inverters, motors, engines, transmissions, and vehicles. We also support research and modeling for fuel mixing, combustion, filtration, and fluid flow analysis.

Objectives of this Role:

  • Leverage your electronics expertise to develop solutions for unique powertrain control problems, reducing energy consumption and emissions of transportation systems.
  • Develop embedded electronic control systems to support R&D programs that benefit the world by reducing energy consumption and emissions, including greenhouse gases.
  • Develop DSP circuits and software to gain control of production electric machine inverters, enabling precision testing and advanced control algorithm research.
  • Develop FPGA and other microcontoller circuits and software to gain control of production hyrbid ICE/battery powertrains, enabling precision testing and advanced control algorithm research.

    Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

    • Design, analyze, prototype and test circuits and systems for automotive powertrain and electrification projects.
    • Implement and deploy control systems on real-time microcontrollers & DSPs from Texas Instruments, dSPACE, National Instruments, ETAS, Woodward and SwRI among others.
    • Conduct high quality experimental work in test cell as well as vehicle environment with little guidance.
    • Support business development activities by interacting with clients, making technical presentations, writing proposals and publishing papers.
    • Work in a team environment consistently collaborating with other personnel.


      • Requires a Bachelors with a 3.00 GPA in Electrical Engineering
      • 0-2 years: Analog and digital circuit design
      • 0-2 years: Power electronics design and analysis. Experience with three-phase electric motors and inverters is preferred
      • 0-2 years: Experience writing software for real-time rapid prototyping controllers like dSPACE, ETAS, Mototron is preferred
      • A valid/clear driver's license is required

        Special Requirements:

        Work assignment is in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Must be a U.S. person (i.e., U.S. citizen, non-U.S. citizen national, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) due to ITAR work in section.
