Bio-Rad is looking for an enthusiastic Design Transfer Engineer II to manage and release its commercial products. This role is part of an innovative engineering team developing complex solutions for Next Generation ddPCR and single-cell instruments.You'll report to the Mechanical Engineering team and be part of a larger multi-disciplinary R&D team. This supporting role will allow you to learn new things and grow while interfacing with design engineers, software engineers, chemists, and molecular biologists. Design Transfer Engineer II has diverse exposure in the development and release of instrumentation. Deliverables vary in complexity to convert small prototypes into manufacturable and scalable commercial products. Secondarily, supporting commercial teams with complex issues remotely and at customer sites. Experts in all aspects of engineering, we focus on three areas: Mechanical, carefully and precisely executing design; Electrical, developing instrument controls and printed circuit boards; and System, developing products from architecture through integration, testing, and validation.   • Early prototype and design integration to eliminate risks for manufacturing or life cycle support.
  • Key support to manufacturing design transfer.
  • Create/Approves/ Redline Assembly procedures and test procedures.
  • Create technical troubleshooting documents.
  • Defines repair & replacement model for Service.
  • Analyze critical instrument software and performance data to meet design requirements.
  • Product Risks and trending to contain failure modes.
  • Defines Maintenance/ Calibrations/ Tools needed during the instrument life cycle.
  • Creates and administers train-the-trainer content for the commercial product launch.
  • Tier 3 escalation support and SME to resolve complex issues in the field.
    What You Bring:

    • BS in engineering/science and demonstrated life science experience.
    • 3+ years of experience.
    • Experience with optical systems, electro-mechanical assemblies, and fluidic systems.
    • Very hands-on with electro-mechanical, mechanical assembly, and electrical test experience.
    • Knowledge of SAP/PLM to manage the MBOM release.
    • Demonstrated manufacturing, scientific instrumentation, or technical product transfer.
    • Track record of managing multiple priorities at one time to meet project timelines.
    • Strong written and verbal communication.
    • Flexibility to travel when needed to support activities in product transfer.
    • Must have a clean & valid US driver's license.
    • A basic understanding of cell biology and scientific applications is a significant advantage.
    • Good interpersonal skills and strong team building.
    • Experienced working within CFR 21, ISO 13485, and GMP.
      This position is eligible for a $5,000 HIRING BONUS: Offered for a limited time only. Applicable to specific positions as labeled. Recipients must be employed at the time of payout. Payout after 30 days of employment with Bio-Rad. Offered to direct hires only. Compensation:The estimated base salary range for this position is $76,600 to $105,400 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location,experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
