The mission of the University of Michigan is to serve the people of Michigan and the world through preeminence in creating, communicating, preserving and applying knowledge, art, and academic values, and in developing leaders and citizens who will challenge the present and enrich the future.

Established in 1983 as an early diversity initiative, CSP has grown in size, scope, and stature. Today it is a community of scholars -- students, staff, and faculty -- organized around principles of diversity, access, equity, and inclusion. Together, members of the community promote academic excellence and champion personal growth and wellness for all students within the Program and at the U-M at large. CSP sits within LSA's Division of Undergraduate Education and serves over 3,000 students across multiple schools and colleges, including the College of Engineering, the Ross School of Business, School of Kinesiology, and School of Nursing. Many are the first in their family to go to college, identify with populations historically underrepresented at and marginalized by the University, or attended systemically under-resourced high schools, both urban and rural. The Program plays a high-profile role in the College's and the University's commitment to access, diversity, and inclusion for all of its undergraduates -- from admission to graduation. CSP is dedicated to fostering a sense of belonging at its large, public institution. More information can be found on the CSP website: http://www.lsa.umich.edu/csp/.
