Job Description:
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Provides leadership and guidance for the
EMR Analysts and Medical Records teams within the IT Department.
Responsible for the service levels and performance of each team and
individual colleagues and ensures that resources are well managed,
and staff are high performing. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: - Manages
the work of assigned staff including the monitoring of staff
competencies, hiring of new staff, orientation of new assignments,
developing goals and objectives, conducting annual performance
appraisal and the utilization of performance resolution process
when needed. - Works closely with medical leadership and practice
operations to ensure that we are gaining the full benefits our
clinical applications and processes. - Provides senior level
leadership, guidance and support to EHR implementation and
enhancements. - Supports the leadership and teams responsible for
providing EHR clinical and clerical support, leading up to and
following system upgrades. - Provides guidance, support and
oversight to ensure clinical concepts are successfully translated
to technical and clinical specifications. - Focuses on ensuring
that all staff members are fully competent with all our electronic
capabilities, that our systems fully integrate, that we build
clinical support systems to support medical decision making and
that we effectively capture needed clinical information to maximize
our performance under quality programs. - Maintains oversight of
work that relates to patient safety and quality initiatives. -
Participates/helps plan and lead EHR upgrades and conversions,
oversees testing and quality of new functionality in order to
minimize organizational impact in direct collaboration with the
teams supporting the enterprise health system's EHR environment.
Ensures that communications within teams are effective to
efficiently coordinate efforts regarding EHR system capabilities. -
Develops appropriate action plans as necessary and actively
supports the medical group until performance is achieved. -
Provides guidance to the leadership team to ensure that the staff
who support in these areas are well trained and engaged in their
work. - Supports the leadership team with innovative and proactive
recruitment, development and retention of high-level talent for
respective teams; provides input on performance and provides
direction when individual or team performance is not meeting
expectations or established goals. - Establishes and measures
performance goals and objectives for direct management reports,
provides input for team and individual performance goals. -
Facilitates health information technology solutions that bring
evidence-based care standards and care delivery models to the
system thus reducing clinical variation, unwarranted clinical
variation and improving business and operational performance. -
Provides input toward the development of capital and operating
budgets for clinical systems and has responsibility for managing to
the established budget. - Assists in the development, education,
and enforcement of information systems policies. - Attends relevant
meetings; may participate in the planning or presentation at team
or other leadership level meetings. Ensures that issues are
communicated effectively and resolved in a timely manner. - Assumes
additional responsibility as necessary. Job Requirements:ESSENTIAL
QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or equivalent
combination of education and experience. CREDENTIALS/LICENSURE:
NoneMINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Prior work at a leadership level within IS
or other relevant leadership experience, with six to eight years'
experience leading an IT functional area.POSITION REQUIREMENTS
(ABILITIES & SKILLS):- Demonstrated experience in talent
acquisition, support of complex employee relations issues,
performance management, employee communication and/or change
management.- Ability to coordinate, direct and supervise the work
of others.- Proficient in operating a standard desktop and
Windows-based computer system, including but not limited to, EHR
software, third-party clinical systems, Microsoft Word and Excel,
intranet and computer navigation. Ability to use other software as
required while performing the essential functions of the job.-
Possesses in-depth knowledge of EHR system setup, configuration,
optimization, support, integration, and implementation. Experience
with EPIC is preferred.- Ability to analyze and interpret data for
appropriate and effective response.- Excellent communication skills
in both written and verbal forms, including proper phone etiquette.
Ability to speak before groups of people, either in-person or
virtually, and resolve conflict in situations where the audience
may be less than receptive.- Ability to work collaboratively, in a
courteous and friendly demeanor within all levels of the
organization, vendors and the general public. - Excellent
organizational and time management skills to effectively juggle
multiple priorities, time constraints and large volumes of work.-
Ability to exercise sound judgement and problem-solving skills.-
Requires the ability to drive to other office sites. - Ability to
handle IHA staff and organizational information in a confidential
manner.- Successful completion of IHA competency-based program
within introductory and training period.
