DescriptionThis is a senior leadership role in QIAGEN and part of
QIAGEN's Senior Management (QSM). The responsibility for steering
and guiding a significant organization or department (small global
or medium regional unit) and its relative revenue and/or budgets as
well as multiple functions or organizations in various geographic
market places are the most important activities of this role.This
includes providing advisory and consulting services to QIAGEN's
management and other stakeholders on questions in the area of
expertise, ensuring internal and external compliance and driving
the development of new topics within these area.The role requires
interdisciplinary experience and cross-functional understanding of
the whole organization and an intercultural competence with
cross-cultural experience. The role requires the aptitude to
consult and negotiate with senior management on critical matters.
Highly professional concepts for developing resolution to critical
issues and broad design matters are the most important tools in
this role.Main Tasks
- Accountable for the excellence of R&D solutions delivered
to the Franchise PCL, the related projects/program and Life Cycle
Management (LCM) activities
- Ensure the alignment of the Function activities and resources
with the needs of the different Projects (qualitatively and
quantitatively)
- Empower and support R&D Project Team Members, staffed from
the multiple R&D technological centers, to propose and
implement time, quality and cost effective solutions matching the
project objectives
- Accountable for ensuring the development teams are able to
identify project risk and find solutions to ensure timelines are
met and within budget
- Account for technical and technological know-how and strategy
within the franchise
- Drive the establishment of technical recommendations and
support the opportunity evaluation process
- Liaise with other functions, proactively identify technologies
for use in the Franchise programs
- Lead the strategy for technology platforms and
partnerships
- Provide oversight and leadership to the Franchise and alignment
through participation in the Global Development Leadership
Team
- Ensures alignment & mutual commitmentPosition Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in related fields minimum requirement and a
Master's degree required in topical major or engineering, PhD
preferred
- At least 10 years of relevant molecular IVD R&D experience
- ideally through multiple tech centers (PCR assay development,
system integration, engineering etc.)
- Strong infectious disease & IVD experience required. Other
specialties, such as Oncology will be considered
- Strong understanding of the infectious disease market segment
and with the relevant technology
- Extensive knowledge of business administration, especially
resource planning and control. Knowledge of the relationships
within the whole organization
- Extensive knowledge of product development portfolio
management
- Proven managerial knowledge or proven technical expertise in
one discipline, i.e., by internal or external further
education
- Execution of complex managerial tasks or responsibility for
multiple subject areas, teams or projectsPersonal Requirements
- Strong decision maker balanced with identifying and managing
risk
- Ability to maneuver in a consistently changing environment;
Ability to operate cross-functionally and understanding of external
and internal business drivers
- Strong leadership in virtual global matrix teams. Experience in
leading interdisciplinary and virtual teams in a global setup
- Strong communication skills required both oral and
