Not only will you learn to become proficient with ancillary testing including Humphrey Visual Fields, prepare patients for orbital injections, learn to check vision, pupils and pressure for our patients who qualify for virtual visits, instill dilation drops, perform contact lens trainings, but you will have the opportunity to work closely with our Imaging Specialist to become proficient with OCT and OPTOS images. In addition to these specialized skills and other abilities you already possess as a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for monitoring messages in our inbasket, ordering and stocking supplies, working prior authorizations for medications, scheduling appointments, and following all policies specific to Ophthalmology, Michigan Medicine, as well as those set by the Joint Commission. Required Qualifications* Strong interest in photography, with an eagerness to learn. High School Diploma or GED. Knowledge of basic medical terminology. Moderate standing/walking, lifting, positioning, pushing and/or transferring patients. Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team setting. Communicates effectively Demonstrates initiative, active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills. At the Associate level: 1 - 3 years of experience. At the Assistant level: 0-1 years of experience. Desired Qualifications* Eagerness to learn new skills and take initiative within your scope of practice Photography experience Ability to support providers within your scope during office procedures Experience working within a large, complex health care setting. Familiarity with UMHS electronic medical record systems. Knowledge of University policies and procedures. Work ScheduleThe facility is open 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM Monday through Friday, and 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM on Saturday. We are flexible in scheduling, and request that you are also flexible in working various shifts. Additional Information Training As part of the orientation training process, your training will be held at multiple locations during your first few months of the employment .
