Summary To assist Point of Care Senior Technologists, Managers, and Directors in a variety of duties as designated to support the Point of Care Testing and Quality Management programs. To fulfill all duties and responsibilities of a Medical Technologist and/or Laboratory Technician. Excellent medical, dental and vision coverage effective on your very first day Retirement Savings Opportunities Responsibilities* Technical Support and Customer Service Assist with POC instrument and test system implementation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting and service. Monitor inventory and distribute laboratory reagents and supplies. Respond to technical questions from non-pathology POC testing operators via phone and email. Perform routine management of POC data using the RALS middleware. (Flagged results, operator access, consumables) Clerical duties include printing operator barcodes, scanning lab reports, marking supplies, responding to HITS tickets (corrected results). Enter results for surgery non-interfaced testing. Interact with instrument vendors, Pathology management and staff, non-pathology management and staff, and physician and non-physician providers.Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance Assist with the administration of the POC quality management program for onsite and offsite. Perform quality control on sequestered POC reagents. Assist with the administration of the POC proficiency testing program. Use information systems and computer applications. Perform audits related to pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical aspects of POC testing. (QA rounds, OR rounds, personnel folder audits, results audits) Assist with regulatory inspections of POC testing units. Review QC and other records associated with POC testing.Training and Competency Assessment Assist with training and competency assessment of non-pathology operators of POC testing. Assist with training and orientation of new employees, pathology residents, medical technology students. Integrate high reliability organization (HRO) skills into processes. Educate POC operators to regulatory standards and good laboratory practice.General Comply with laboratory regulatory standards and documentation requirements. Adhere to safety and infection control policies and procedures. Maintain a professional appearance and attitude in interactions with coworkers, supervisors, other hospital personnel, and hospital patients and visitors. Fulfill departmental continuing education requirement. Work flexible hours. If necessary, participate in weekend and holiday coverage. Use personal vehicle to travel to ambulatory health centers and main campus to fulfill duties described above. Required Qualifications* In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment.A baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science or in a chemical, physical or biological science is required. Certification by or eligible to be certified by BOC. A minimum of 2 years experience in clinical laboratory testing is required.The applicant must have: The ability to independently organize and prioritize work and to meet deadlines. The ability to work under pressure of time and work volume without sacrificing accuracy. The ability to communicate effectively with other medical personnel. The ability to demonstrate and explain technical procedures and policies. The ability to recognize problems and take appropriate action. The ability and willingness to flex to changing tasks and priorities to meet customer needs. Skills basic to the practice of medical laboratory technology. Desired Qualifications* Generalist experience is preferred. Experience teaching or training others in the clinical laboratory setting is preferred. Additional Information $3000.00 signing bonus available to external candidates.
