32-bed medical/surgical unit that primarily includes patients
admitted to the services of: (Medicine) Gastroenterology/Liver,
Medicine Faculty Hospitalist/Renal and (Surgery) transplant,
bariatric, colorectal, urology, orthopedic. Our interdisciplinary
team provides care to patients and families across the adult
life-span who are experiencing acute and chronic episodes of their
illness. 5B, Internal Medicine unit, has been awarded the
prestigious Academy of Medical Surgical Nursing Prism Award for May
2022 through April 2025. 5B is one of two units in the state of
Michigan to receive this honor! This award recognizes
medical-surgical units for providing exemplary patient care and
reflects the unit's commitment to patient safety, excellence in
clinical care, teamwork, and shared leadership. Why work on

Qualifications* Current Michigan RN license for all candidates that
have passed the NCLEX.**GN applicants will be considered for this
position. The selected Graduate Nurse candidate will have 45 days
from date of hire to successfully pass the NCLEX for Michigan RN

applicant must have met or will have met all the required

position. Desired Qualifications* BSN preferred. One year
experience as a Registered Nurse. Experience with General Medicine
patients Demonstrated effective written and communication skills.

Schedule Hours/Week: 32 hrs (0.8)Shift/Hrs: Night shift position;
every other weekendLocation: University Hospital - 5B1 Acute Care
MedicineNote: All new employees will be expected to float to a
designated unit(s) in times of low census. Union Affiliation This
position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement
between the U-M and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U-M
Professional Nurse Council union, which contains and settles all
matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and
conditions of employment. Background Screening Michigan Medicine
conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on
job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may
use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.
