This position for Application Engineer can lead to either a technical or managerial track within our company. The Technical Specialist is to become expert in Simulia software including fluids, structures, acoustics, and multi-body dynamics. You will be well versed in the solvers, user interface, and the ability to create and debug complex models in the automotive, aerospace, medical device, and energy industries.

However, we are looking for the very best. If that's you - please apply. We require an MS degree, coursework in CAE, and a strong knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts. We will accept candidates with 5+ years of experience.

Responsibilities:

You will be expected to manage multiple projects/timing, including leading engineering team members, while also performing mechanical design and simulation. The advance simulation department is involved in these activities, all of which, you may be requested to engage in:

  • Design and analysis project work
  • Software support, training, pre-sales and demonstration model construction
  • Marketing related activities, conference presentations

    You are expected to perform work for CATI customers with sincere efforts toward quality, timeliness, and customer satisfaction. You will be expected to derive solutions and recommendations to improve the mechanical characteristics of our customer's products and advance their level of design and simulation methods. Some specific expectations:
    • Perform projects to support customers: solve specific problems for customers and deliver results (typically this involves developing appropriate FE solutions, validating with calculations and/or physical test results, establishing an optimization loop to improve weight, cost, performance
    • Establish appropriate scope and timing estimates during project quotation phase; interact with sales team
    • Direct customers needing support: discuss and answer questions, develop example FE models and solutions, provide training
    • Work as a team member
    • Exhibit excellent communication skills - ability to communicate complex engineering topics to less sophisticated design teams, ability to communicate at a high level with other advanced simulation specialists
    • Create and present papers at conferences
    • Ability to run/perform:
    • 3DEXPEREINCE simulation tools - structures, fluids, multibody dynamics, optimization and DOE
    • Other Simulia stand-alone solvers, especially ABAQUS
    • Durability and fatigue
    • Multi-body dynamics
    • Explicit and implicit simulation techniques
    • Material characterization - rubbers/composites/plastics/metals/ non-linear and linear static analysis
    • Vibration and acoustics
    • Fluids - compressible and incompressible
    • Thermal analysis
    • Fluid structural interaction (solver coupling)

      Requirements
      • Minimum MS in a mechanical engineering field of study
      • CAE coursework at university
      • 5-10 years experience in product development and CAE
      • Must be customer focused and service oriented
      • Ability to learn new skills, adapt to changing environments and show attention to detail
      • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with teams
      • Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and presentation skills
      • Proficient problem solving and analytical ability
