The nine operating subsidiaries, covering over 50 locations, are engaged in the production of commercial truck bodies, step-vans, utility trucks, funeral coaches, limousines, electric and alternative fuel vehicles, pickup truck bed enclosures, precision machining, and expandable foam plastic packaging.Location: Based out of Ann Arbor, MI office with heavy travel to Ypsilanti, MI site.Position Overview:The Electronics and Wiring Technician - Electronics Development will assist with the development for the integration of advanced E/E technology into the JBPCO Business Unit products on electric and internal combustion engine vehicle chassis.In your role as an Electronics and Wiring Technician, you will be responsible for the following essential Duties/responsibilities of the Electronics and Wiring Technician:--- Installs electronic components and wiring harnesses on to chassis--- Builds harnesses for specified vehicle applications.--- Assists in identifying and sourcing parts as necessary.--- Actively provides exceptional customer service, maintains a well-organized workspace, and returns tools, materials, and equipment to designated areas.--- Reads and interprets blueprints to design and construct base templates as necessary.--- Sets up, uses, and maintains work machinery and electronic test equipment.--- Double-checks design specifications before commencing equipment installation activities or part ordering.--- Assists in fabricating and constructing metal and various other material components.--- Wires beds, vehicles, trailers.--- Grinds, smooths, and completes products and performs quality checks on completed products.--- Reviews work orders and discusses work with fabricator.--- Completes accurate notes/records on work instructions.--- Participates in ongoing technical education.--- Adheres to all company safety policies, rules, and training.--- Applies strong attention to detail to every aspect of design to assure safety and quality.--- Must be willing to travel between Ann Arbor, MI and Ypsilanti, MI sites.Education--- High school degree or equivalent.--- Automotive trade or technical school preferred.Experience--- 2 + years harness building experience required.--- 1-3 years automotive technician experience preferred.Specialized Skills--- Ability to read and interpret designs and blueprints.--- Valid Driver's License and clean driving record.--- Basic MS Office knowledge; computer software/internet proficiency.--- Professional personal appearance, including appropriate work attire and personal hygiene.--- Adequate physical ability to maneuver inside, outside, and under a vehicle as required for diagnosis and repair.--- Ability to drive and handle various makes, models, and sizes of vehicles.--- Complete inventory of auto mechanical and fabrication tools.--- Team oriented, flexible, and focused on maintaining a high level of customer service.--- Advanced mathematical and engineering skills.--- Proficiency with metal fabrication tools.Work Hours--- Regular work hours are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.--- The position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with evening and weekends as needed to satisfy the requirements of the position.
