Job Description:
Join our team as a Business Intelligence Intern, where you'll
dive into the dynamic world of data analysis and visualization.
Responsibilities:
- Follow standards, procedures and WIs regarding BI development
and deployment.
- Identify new development opportunities where spreadsheets,
databases, other non-standard programs or WMS datasets are used to
generate outputs for various teams.
- Gathering of requirements and documentation from sites or
internal departments for projects.
- Ability to review data sets, identify trends, monitor, review
and provide actionable data sets through apps, reports or
dashboards in our global business intelligence software.
- Automation of common data sets to improve efficiency of end
users and reduce data entry into multiple systems where
applicable.
- Design and configuration of QlikSense and/or Power BI apps,
reports and dashboards while presenting the data in a logical and
effective format.
- Participate in team development sessions to learn and implement
best practice techniques. Use standard solution sets to roll out
tools and cultivate adoption of these new solutions.
- Train the local teams/analysts to use applications and reports
to help reduce non value-added activities.
- Working with end users and gathering feedback to improve app
insights, usage and adoption.
- Abide by the Business Intelligence, IT and Quality
policies.
- All other duties as required. Special Assignments for Intern
role:
- Databricks (Python/Spark)
- Experience preferred due to learning curve.
- Azure DevOps (Work Items/Repos/CICD Pipelines)
- Easy to learn, no experience necessary.
- PowerBI (Dataflows)
- Minimal experience necessary, we can easily work around this.
Accountability:
- On time completion of projects.
- At or under budget project performance.
- Successful implementation of data tools to operations and other
functional groups.
- Successful implementation of new plant launches and systems
training for users.
- Transition of tools developed to local support teams and train
appropriate resources.
- Awareness of GDPR requirements to ensure sensitive data is not
exposed to users who should not have access. Knowledge Required:
- Understands principles and concepts in supply chains,
warehousing, fulfillment and logistics.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, follow up,
problem resolution and facilitation skills while working with
various levels of the organization.
- Documentation of processes, process changes and gathering of
specific requirements related to a project.
- This position requires Bachelor's Degree in Engineering,
Computer Science or related field; however, 1 year of Power BI
training and/or other BI Tool experience may be considered in lieu
of education.
- Strong analytic skills for working with unstructured datasets
to transform data and approach problems in a creative manner.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously must be
demonstrated.
- Awareness of various database structures and platforms, data
lakes/warehousing techniques, optimization within 'big data'
storage and methodologies of how to extract this data (ETL
process), data modelling and general business intelligence
concepts.
- Write, fine tune and troubleshoot queries in SQL against
relational databases as required. (ex. Postgres, Progress,
Oracle)
- Experience in reverse engineering existing applications to
determine how such apps can be converted and built within Power
BI.
- Experience with Office 365 - Excel, Access etc.
