The Prevention Research Center of Michigan (PRC/MI) in the
School of Public Health and National Center for School Safety seeks
a motivated and qualified candidate to assist in developing and
conducting (a) program evaluation studies of school safety training
and public health prevention initiatives, (b) research on violence
and injury prevention, c) rigorous systematic literature reviews,
and (d) dissemination activities related to public health
prevention research. The Research Specialist will assist PRC/MI and
NCSS faculty on studies related to school safety, health
disparities and violence prevention. It is anticipated that the
Research Specialist will work on other public health program
evaluation, research, dissemination, and training projects as new
opportunities arise. This position is located on the Ann Arbor
campus. Some travel to Flint and Genesee County may be required.
This position is Term-Limited - hire date through 8/31/2022.

What You'll Do
- Assists with planning research studies, developing IRB
applications, and managing research protocols
- Collects and manages data and conducts data analyses for
multiple research studies using statistical software
- Assists in the preparation and submission of grant proposals
(e.g. prepares literature searches and summaries; conducts
background research; assembles and formats documents).
- Contributes to research presentations and publications for
academic and general audiences.
- Assists in collecting performance data and preparing progress
reports for research sponsors.
Skills You Have
- A master's degree in public health, health science, behavioral
science or an equivalent combination of education and
- One or more years of experience with public health or social
- Experience using SPSS, SAS, STATA or other data management or
- Demonstrated ability to learn new computer programs
- Experience leading systematic reviews using COVIDENC
- Experience managing a team of student assistants.
- Experience evaluating training and technical assistance
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate well with co-workers and to work
independently as needed.
- Ability to prioritize and complete assignments independently
with excellent attention to detail and under general
Due to the COVID-19 climate, we are currently working remotely.
If the selected candidate is not in/near the Ann Arbor area, there
is the possibility to have this position be permanently or mostly
remote when staff are allowed back in offices. Remote staff are
provided with a monitor, laptop and related accessories. Office
equipment such as desk, chair, and printer are not provided for
remote work and staff must supply their own reliable internet
access. Basic supplies such as paper and pens, are stocked at the
business location and are available to remote staff for pick-up
should they choose. There may be occasions where the staff member
will need to report the office in Ann Arbor, including meetings,
training, computer or technology requirements, or to complete work
that is not possible to handle remotely.
