Concordia University is now seeking applicants for a part-time, non-exempt (hourly) position of Senior Campus Safety Officer, located on the CUAA Ann Arbor, MI Campus. This position will work up to 30 hours per week with increased duties and responsibilities. The shifts open for availability are 1st, 2nd, and/or 3rd shift with weekend availability. Shift hours assigned may vary depending on the needs of the department. The Senior Campus Safety Officer reports directly to the Director of Campus Safety or the Assistant Director in the absence of the Director. Interested persons should enjoy working with young adults and understand the uniqueness of the college campus community environment. Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesNorth Building safety and security leadThe Senior Campus Safety Officer will be based out of the North building and will be the primary response officer during work hours. The Director of Campus Safety Director at his/her discretion may change work location.Facilitate safety/security/parking meetings between North Building departmentsSafety orientation for incoming students & employeesCompliance - Clery and DFSACoordinate Clery compliance efforts across university departments (aligning systems), facilitate and track Campus Security Authority training, ongoing and annual data collection, lead an internal team to compile and complete the Annual Security Report, monitor Dept of Ed for updated requirementsCoordinate DFSA efforts across university departments, gather data and complete the biennial review report, provide recommendations to the Dean of StudentsPolicy and ProcedureUpdate Campus Safety Policy and Procedures to assure implementation of best practices, procedural law updates, and evolving campus needsTrainingMaintain Campus Safety training records. Maintain firearm training and qualification records.Coordinate internal Campus Safety Department training and external (campus community) training initiativesTransition Campus Safety training to a digital formatProvide Safety training for student-workers who are assigned to the Welcome DeskSpecial Initiatives as assigned by the Director of Campus SafetyEnforce the Student Conduct Code and other University regulations, policies and proceduresPrepare shift, incident and conduct reports as appropriateAssist in investigating complaints and violations of university policies and proceduresAssist in record keeping in compliance with Campus Crime and Safety ActSupervise the work of student safety officersInteracts with various offices within the university as well as outside constituentsMay perform other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge, skill, training and ability to deal with emergenciesAbility to take charge and follow proceduresMust possess excellent people and communication skillsWillingness and a strong desire to be a leader and role modelAbility to react calmly and responsibly in emergency situationsWorking Knowledge of Microsoft Office and possess general computer and typing skillsAbility to work nights, weekends and holidays as requiredMust have a good driving recordEducation and/or TrainingCandidate must have high school diploma or GED. Previous Law Enforcement, campus safety or security experience is a plus.Compensation and BenefitsThis is a part-time, non-exempt (hourly) staff position working up to 30 hours per week. Wages will be commensurate with qualifications, education, and experience.
