The Supply Chain Category Specialist supports strategic sourcing
and category management processes that create sustainable value
through lower costs, improved supplier performance and efficiency
with a keen appreciation/consideration for Business Partner needs
and priorities. Works with cross-functional teams in the
implementation of category management processes. Conducts research
and analysis to develop strategy and drive decision-making
regarding spend, suppliers and markets. Develops category and
commodity cost models, in partnership with the Sourcing Specialist.
Works with Supply Chain (SC) staff and Business Partners to provide
day-to-day support for strategic sourcing and procurement, responds
to questions and solves problems. The Category Specialist Reports
to the Portfolio Manager (or Category Manager). A Supply Chain
Specialist - Category should have skills and expertise in the
- Category Management, Spend Analysis, Strategic Sourcing:
Supports Portfolio Managers and Category Leads in category
management activities and processes that ensure Business Partner
satisfaction and value creation. Helps implement, in collaboration
with Portfolio Managers and Category Leads, leading practices for
spend/market analysis to develop value-adding sourcing strategies.
Supports regular assessment of Business Partner requirements and
matching procurement plans to meet/adapt to business needs. Seeks
to develop category expertise, market dynamics and trends
knowledge, insights about suppliers, pricing, and negotiating
- Supplier Relationship Management: As directed, communicates
with suppliers and is knowledgeable about procurement practices and
category strategy. Develops, maintains and appropriately builds
strong, positive and influential relationships with suppliers and
Business Partners to assure CMS of long-term, cost-effective,
procurement strategy in procurement of key services and goods.
- Supply Chain Strategy: Supports the SC and category strategy
development process with analysis and helps integrate it with
regular business planning and budgeting cycles for SC and CMS.
Works closely with Category Leads to align strategy making
processes with Business Partner processes. Assists in the
preparation and communication of business cases to support SC
initiatives and priorities.
- Continuous Improvement: Uses continuous improvement framework
to sustain SC strategy and compliance with CMS objectives. To
achieve process excellence and stay current with industry
innovations, the Specialist helps identify and implement, in
collaboration with the SC Leads, leading practices throughout the
organization. Communicates initiatives and improvements to Business
Partners as appropriate.
- Bachelor's degree in an applicable field. Less than a
Bachelor's degree may be acceptable if accompanied by Company or
industry experience in positions that demonstrate required
abilities and performance
- 2 years of directly relevant work experience, including 1 year
of experience working with cross-functional teams.

Support Job Family is a wide variety of business functions, at
times involving very specific business disciplines.
At the lowest level in this job family, the work performed may

short training period. At this level the employee is more likely to
be able to move to different functional areas of the Company.
At the highest levels in this job family the work performed will
tend to be of a complex nature involving knowledge of various

Business Support Advisors and Consultants support the planning,
business analysis, general management, budget preparations and
analysis, negotiations, transactions, customer services and
auditing of a wide variety of business functions and processes of
specific operating and support areas throughout the Company. Duties
and who this individual reports to will fluctuate between projects,
departments and offices. Lead and/or assist with business analysis
and support for the plans, reports, impacts, contracts, schedules,
estimates, data collection, observations, and field investigations.
Provide business analysis and support services with accuracy, on
time and under budget. Use computer assisted applications software
and equipment to prepare business analysis support documents.
Understand and follow Company established standard procedures for
file structure and standard procedures for projects. Become
familiar with business and department and Company plans and related
material for each project and be able to utilize the information
appropriately. Assist in client contact and communication. Utilize
effective communication skills to answer inquiries from coworkers,
clients, or the public. Public involvement may include producing
reports, graphics, presentations, and other visual material as well
as occasional speaking or meeting with stakeholders. Attend
internal and external meetings. Provide business analysis and
support services in a legal and ethical manner. Individuals should
exemplify safe work practices and follow the Company's compliance
standards. Regular attendance is expected.
Hours and Travel:
This position requires the individual work 40 hours per week
with 90% of time spent in the office or specific field locations.
