Who we're looking for Toyota's Integrated Vehicle Systems (IVS) Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Automated Driving Systems (ADS) Senior Design Engineer. The primary responsibility of this role is towork collaboratively to realize commercially viable ADS concepts through system development and iterative processes in algorithm design, coding, data analysis, predictive simulation, bench testing and on-vehicle validation. Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the IVS department's objective to be at the forefront of ADS, developing exciting, customer-centric features for commercialization. What you'll be doing As Senior Design Engineer in ADS, you will contribute individually and collaboratively to: Plan, execute and monitor project timelines towards goal achievement through gated milestones. Identify customer needs through data driven assessment of technology, infrastructure, driving environment, market, and social trends. Propose and architect the development and integration of features, processes and tools to address customer needs. Develop "proof of concepts (PoC)" to demonstrate efficacy. Implement agile processes to refine function/system performance through iterative software engineering lifecycle including data analysis, predictive simulation, bench testing and, in-vehicle validation. Drive prototype vehicles in simulated, closed-track, and public-road environments. Develop simulation environment (Hardware in the loop, Software in the loop) and integrate software testing processes and tools to facilitate automated testing. Analyze data with automated and quantitative methods to enable visualized tracking of performance indicators for decision making. Create easy-to-understand visualized reports to support technical storytelling. Communicate with Management and stakeholders toward building consensus. Identify process gaps, improve existing processes, create new sustainable standardized processes. Mentor junior-level members in best practices for software engineering. Qualifications What you bring Bachelor of Science (orhigher) degree in Computer science, Computer engineering, Robotics engineering, Electrical engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent degree Experience working independently to develop and test software using Python, C++, MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent Experience with continuous integration tools e.g., Azure DevOps Pipelines, Jenkins Experience using cloud platforms to perform simulations e.g., AWS, Azure Experience in project management related to the design and evaluation of large-scale, large-team software technology Experience leading the evaluation of ADS, including quantitative performance comparisons against benchmark competitors Experience with algorithm development and/or validation of software for detection and classification using camera, radar, lidar, or ultrasonic technologies Experience in integrating sensors and ECU's into a bench simulation environment (HILS, SILS) and developing necessary application software to facilitate automated testing and visualization Good time management and task prioritization skills Clear and concise presentation skills, both written and oral Willingness to work overtime, when necessary, up to 10% of the time Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally up to 5% of the time This position requires driving.
