Job Summary

The University of Michigan's Department of Radiation Oncology is seeking a Research Laboratory Specialist to support our research efforts.

Responsibilities*

This Research Laboratory Specialist position will focus on conducting preclinical experiments aimed at advancing our understanding of radiation and radiation-induced lipid damage on tumor immunology and immunotherapy efficacy. The ideal candidate will perform in vitro and in vivo experiments that allow us to develop new therapeutic targets or approaches for the treatment of cancer.

Required Qualifications*

Senior Level

Candidates in this classification are required to have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a recognized field related to the duties. A minimum of 5 years of related work experience. A publication record demonstrating application of analytics skills is also a requirement for this position.

Intermediate Level

Candidates in this classification are required to have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a recognized field related to the duties. A minimum of 4 years of related work experience. A publication record demonstrating application of analytics skills is also a requirement for this position.

Desired Qualifications*

Senior Level

A Ph.D. or Master's degree is preferred for this position. Experience with flow cytometry, molecular biology, tumor immunology, and cancer biology is desirable. We are looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious, and self-motivated individual who can independently conduct research with strong verbal and written communication skills. We are looking for someone interested in working in a collaborative environment with junior and senior lab members.

This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

Additional Information

This is a grant-funded position that will report directly to Dr. Michael Green. His group seeks to define and harness the determinants of inflammation which shape anti-tumoral immunity and influence cancer therapy efficacy with an emphasis on radiation, lipid damage, and translation of preclinical research to clinical trials.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.
