Join us. At QIAGEN, you make a difference every day. Position Description SUMMARY OF JOB Lead efforts to improve Quality Control processes. Evaluate new technologies and develop new procedures for Quality Control testing of critical reagents and cartridges in compliance with QSR, ISO, OSHA, IVDD, MDD regulations and relevant Standard Operating Procedures. MAIN TASKS (PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES) OF THE POSITION: Include the following but other duties may be assigned: * Leads troubleshooting investigations to resolution for any manufacturing area and/or customer complaints * Assist R&D with assay method development and specification validation * Reagent and Cartridge quality testing and troubleshooting * Design, author and execute validations to lead to improved laboratory efficiency * Able to independently design experiments, as well as prepare, analyze and present data * Schedules activities to meet time requirements and move multiple projects forward without compromising quality * Interfaces with other departments and coordinates collaborations * Trains QC Scientists in troubleshooting and assay development Supervisory Responsibilities: * Provide leadership within the lab, acting as a trainer, advisor and mentor to the Scientific Associates and Scientists. Provide feedback on Scientific Associates and Scientists to the Quality Control Manager. Act as back-up to the Quality Control Manager as needed. Position Requirements * Minimum of MS degree in Life Sciences or equivalent required; PhD preferred. * Must have at least 5 years of experience in a technical capacity, preferably in a Quality Control or Product Development environment. * Must demonstrate significant knowledge of molecular biology principles and assay development in addition to demonstrated expertise in routine laboratory procedures. * Diagnostic industry/cGMP experience preferred. Proficiency in a word processing program (e., MS Word), a spreadsheet program (i.e., MS Excel) and a database program (i.e., MS Access) is required. * Experience in validation of test methods, statistical analysis and establishment of product specifications.
