Worlds Best Hospitals rankings JOB SUMMARY As a member of the Ann
Arbor Meals on Wheels (AAMOW) team, the Volunteer Coordinator will
play a vital role in protecting the health and quality of life for
the individuals that are served through our program. With the
support of more than 200 volunteers, AAMOW serves 400 individuals
in our community each year who are homebound due to physical and/or
mental health reasons. The individual in this role will be
responsible for recruiting and onboarding new volunteers,
coordinating AAMOWs volunteer schedule to ensure sufficient support
each delivery day, maintaining compliance with Michigan Medicine
policies related to volunteers, and providing support for AAMOWs
Client Services Coordinators. The Volunteer Coordinator is a key
point of contact for volunteers, community members and
organizations seeking opportunities to get involved with AAMOW. To
be successful in this role, candidates should have a passion for
working with volunteers, older adults, and individuals with
disabilities. AAMOW is seeking candidates with exceptional
interpersonal, critical thinking, organizational, and problem
solving skills who can successfully work within a dynamic,
interdisciplinary team. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING Respond to phone and
email inquiries regarding AAMOW volunteer opportunities Serve as a
main point of contact for active and prospective volunteers
Recruit, orient, and onboard new volunteers Maintain compliance
with Volunteer Services policies for AAMOWs 200 volunteers Schedule
50 volunteers/week (while AAMOW is on a 3-day delivery schedule)
and 100 volunteers/week (once AAMOW returns to a 6-day delivery
schedule) Implement an upgraded version of AAMOWs volunteer
database and transition all current and new volunteers to the new
platform Establish initiatives for volunteer recognition Deliver
meals on volunteer routes and AAMOWs staff route, as needed Provide
support for the Client Services Coordinators, as needed, including
adjusting client meals, providing onboarding support for new
clients, communicating important office updates, addressing client
concerns and needs, answering questions for prospective clients and
their support networks, conducting client wellness checks,
answering phones at the AAMOW office, triaging calls to the AAMOW
team, and providing occasional staffing support on the weekends
Assist with quality improvement activities Other duties, as
assigned WHAT IS REQUIRED High school diploma/GED 5 years of
experience providing administrative support in a community-based
organization, school, health department, clinic, or other relevant
setting with diverse groups (2 to 5 years experience for underfill
at the Intermediate level) Demonstrated ability to work
independently and collaboratively as part of a team Excellent
written and verbal communication and customer service skills, both
in person and on the phone Demonstrated ability to prioritize and
complete tasks accurately and thoroughly Valid drivers license and
ability to drive personal vehicle within service area (Note: this
position does not provide mileage reimbursement for local travel)
Physical ability to lift and carry a minimum of twenty (20) pounds
Due to administrative functions, must pass pre-employment screening

experience providing administrative support in a community-based
organization, school, health department, clinic, or other relevant
setting with diverse groups (2 to 5 years experience for underfill

Work Schedule This is full-time, 40-hour per week position. Ann
Arbor Meals on Wheels is open six (6) days per week, and the
typical schedule for this position will be Monday-Friday with
occasional Saturdays and holidays. In the midst of COVID-19, AAMOW
has consolidated our delivery schedule into three (3) days per
week. As such, the person in this role will work in the AAMOW
office with the team on delivery days (Tuesdays, Thursdays) and
remotely on non-delivery days (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays). Once
AAMOW returns to delivering meals six (6) day per week, the person
is this role will work their full appointment in the office.
BACKGROUND SCREENING Michigan Medicine conducts background
screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon
acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party
administrator to conduct background screenings. Background
screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report
Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected
candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff
