Academy Paraprofessional

WSC Academy in Ypsilanti is seeking an enthusiastic, well-organized Paraprofessional to assist students in their studies. This position is ideal for retired educators who would like to return to the classroom to support students both in-person and through virtual instruction.

Paraprofessionals are responsible for different duties that reinforce student learning by providing direct instruction and assisting students individually and in small groups with support of the teacher. They also collaborate with the administration and teachers to plan and prepare teaching aids, coordinate instructional efforts, and provide supervision to students. This position requires strong organizational skills, passion for engaging students in the learning process and the ability to adapt to various classroom settings.

Scheduled hours are Monday through Thursdays from approximately 8AM to 2:30 PM. Although the staff is working on-site daily, students are scheduled for in-school instruction two days per week, with the remaining two days held primarily for virtual instruction with some students in physical attendance.

Requirements of the Paraprofessional:

• Minimum of sixty hours of credits in education or a related field or qualifying scores on Work Keys to be a Paraprofessional as defined by the State of Michigan
• Experience working with youth and/or families
• Experience working in an educational setting is preferred
