The Office of Counseling and Workplace Resilience in Michigan Medicine seeks a mental health counselor to be an integral part of Michigan Medicine's commitment to the safety, health/well-being and fulfillment of all faculty and staff. The successful candidate will have a passion and commitment to be part of a team that delivers psychological care to our community of Michigan Medicine healers by providing confidential short-term, evidence-based mental health counseling, consultation, crisis intervention, debriefing and outreach services.

* Provide short-term individual, couple, and group mental health counseling for Michigan Medicine faculty and staff and their immediate families.
* Perform a broad range of clinical services using evidence-based therapeutic methods for resolution of psychological and/or work concerns, using assessment, conceptualization, and intervention.
* Remain knowledgeable of current research and interventions to support health care professionals' well-being, including factors associated with burnout, trauma, and stress in an academic health care environment.
* Provide trauma-informed practices and initiatives that support well-being and support a culture of safety.
* Be inclusive, equity-oriented, and diversity-aware. We seek a professional committed to working with people with all worldviews, while advocating for inclusion of all persons.
* Provide mitigating interventions when critical incidents affect faculty, physicians, house officers, fellows and staff by providing immediate crisis management, follow-up, and post-incident services.
* Develop connections and cooperative relationships for referral (internal and external), coordination of care and case management.
* Identify educational needs, develop and deliver workshops, presentations and psychoeducational groups on subjects such as mental health in the workplace, stigma reduction in help-seeking behaviors, the stress continuum, workplace resilience, grief/loss, substance use disorders and compassion practices.
* Provide preventive consultation and outreach services to faculty and staff on matters related to mental health, quality of life and well-being to help create positive cultures within the work environment.
* Provide consultation to leaders addressing emergent and urgent risks and make recommendations for risk reduction, case management, referrals, and follow-up.

Required Qualifications*

* Masters Degree or Ph.D./Psy.D. in a relevant social or behavioral science discipline (e.g. Counseling, Psychology, Social Work). Candidates must demonstrate relevant experience as a practicing mental health professional
* Licensed to practice in the State of Michigan
* Two to four years of experience with demonstrable skills in clinical mental health counseling
* Multicultural knowledge, competency, experience, and training working with our diverse community
* Experience with a wide spectrum of evidence-based clinical work from mental health assessment, conceptualization, to crisis managemen
* Knowledge of national trends in mental health and well-being in academic health systems
* Knowledge of organizational and consulting psychology and the ability to implement its applications
* Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, oral and written skills
* Proficiency in use of telehealth services
* Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and adhere to relevant professional standards, ethics, and quality of care
