Under general direction, the EH&S Specialist performs diversified duties to ensure the effective execution of environmental, health and safety programs and processes to prevent accidents and injury, protect company assets and ensure compliance to regulatory requirements and established policies and procedures. This role splits time between Orchid's Chelsea, MI and Farmington Hills, MI facilities.
WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Coordinate and cultivate an exceptional safety-focused culture with support of site leadership teams
  • Champion continuous improvement of EH&S programs, procedures and tools to ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Ensure effective and sustainable EH&S systems, programs and processes are in place
  • Obtain and maintain Health & Safety records and required Environmental permits, licenses and documents as required by law
  • Conduct ergonomic risk assessments and make appropriate recommendations
  • Ensure hazard assessments are completed for all new equipment or processes
  • Develop and coordinate internal auditing processes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards
  • Serve as a resource to leadership teams regarding the development of new capital projects to ensure that all EH&S issues are identified and addressed to ensure successful implementation
  • Develop and conduct EH&S training programs for all employees as required by state and federal guidelines
  • Serve as lead interface with OSHA, EPA or any other local, state, or federal agency
  • Manage First Responder program and annual training requirements
  • Manage SDS requirements and updates
  • Coordinate safety committee activities
  • Lead injury investigation and follow up activities
  • Manage hazardous waste management program
  • Report out on EH&S metrics
  • Support quality and compliance by adhering to all procedures, work instructions, and forms per the Quality Management Systems (QMS)EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
    • High School Or Equivalent (Required)
    • Bachelor (Preferred)EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
      • 1+ Years of experience supporting/implementing EH&S in a manufacturing environment (Required)
      • 3+ Years of Experience in a Manufacturing Environment (Required)
      • 1+ Years of Experience Leading EH&S Programs (Preferred)LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
        • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) - Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) (Preferred)
        • First Aid/CPR/AED for Schools and the Community - American Red Cross (Preferred)
        • Certified Hazard Control Manager (CHCM) - Board of Hazard Control Management (HCM) (Preferred)KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS THAT ENABLE SUCCESS
