Our client is looking for a consultant to assist with their general Windows Environment. This person will either act as a day to day Windows Server Engineer, assist with upgrades within their server environment to help prepare for the move to the cloud, or will help with the cloud transformation. The candidate should be senior level, have excellent Windows skillset, and able to handle small to large projects. Our client would ideally like candidates who have come from enterprise sized environments as well.
This will be a hybrid role, not requiring a lot of onsite work. Most likely 1 time a month unless some project requires it more. They do plan to have 1 in person meeting a month that they would like this consultant to be present for.
This role is budgeted for one year, but there are quite a few upcoming initiatives so there is a high likelihood that they would extend this person beyond one year.
JD:
As a member of the HITS Windows Hosting Services Team, you will implement and manage over 3,300 Windows servers in both physical and virtual (VMWare) environments. We manage multiple strategic projects, including Cloud compute/migration, service offering for research compute, Clinical application support, automation/configuration management and orchestration strategies. You will report directly to the manager of the Windows Hosting Services Team.
You will propose, design, develop and support the Windows clinical and research server environment to provide tiered service offerings for mission critical systems both on premises and in the cloud. Install and manage Windows server operating systems, and support software / services in both Windows and VMware infrastructure. Support server infrastructure including blade chassis, blade and rack servers, and the associated Management services. Develop scripts / tools necessary to extend the functionality and automate day-to-day management of the services.
We are seeking an individual with extensive experience supporting Windows systems in a 24x7 enterprise on-premises and in the cloud, OS server deployment and automation, Security / Vulnerability resolution, and experience maintaining cloud platform infrastructures (IaaS and PaaS).
Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience
• 7+ years of experience in managing and supporting large environment with Windows Enterprise Servers in a complex, high availability, enterprise environment
• Expert level knowledge of Windows Server operating systems (2016,2019,2022)
• Strong experience with cloud infrastructure, deployment and management
• Experience deploying, maintaining, and supporting high performance Windows systems
• Experience managing Server Hardware Management software
• Experience in scripting with PowerShell or PowerCLI
• Experience with VMware virtual server environments and configuring systems for maximum performance and operating flexibility
• Experience in HA clustered application/SQL environments from a server build and operations perspective
• Experience with SCCM and SCOM Management
• Proven technical leader with solid operating system administration skills, and the ability to maintain a positive attitude while working in a dynamic, fast paced environment
• Experience with networking technologies, particularly as they pertain to managing Windows systems and applications running on these system
• Strong security awareness
• Excellent Project management skills.
• Health Care industry experience strongly preferred.
