Rigid Packaging Senior Logitics Manager Position Overview:
Continuously reduce the total cost of ownership, enable revenue
creation, and secure supply for the Logistics category. Establish
strategies and lead initiatives that will enable the implementation
of strategic procurement objectives in all assigned areas of spend
while working closely with various other operational/functional
roles and locations. Responsible for driving best performance for
Logistics in line with Amcor's strategic objectives and assuring
compliance with international and regulatory requirements.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties: Senior individual that
provides leadership for the Logistics category and cross functional
point teams. May participate as a member in other cross functional
point teams and steering committee stakeholder groups to align and
implement common strategies. Point team member(s) may or may not be
reporting to the Senior Category Manager.
- Assume leadership role in the development and deployment of
Logistics strategies that align with the BG and BU's overall
procurement strategy
- Guide and collaborate with stakeholders towards optimizing the
cost and service strategy
- Design KPIs, track progress and adjust strategies to ensure
continual improvement of Cost and Supply Base performance
- Optimize total cost of ownership, revenue enablement, and
budget attainment by leveraging fact-based elements, i.e. supplier
price breakdown, including processing cost obtained either through
internal calculations, external benchmarking, market driven
pricing, etc.
- Define, collaborate and execute negotiation strategy,
negotiation schedule and supplier selection criteria to meet
Procure Plus business objectives
- Conduct Strategy reviews and adjustment in line with Amcor's
strategies and Procure Plus business objectives
- Identify supply risks to supply/cost and develop plan to
mitigate risks Leadership:
- Develop a point team with a broad range of commercial,
technical and organizational skills to ensure high leverage in
supplier selection, approval, negotiations and performance
management
- Develop supply base and sourcing staff performance
measurements/metrics and plans and manage results to meet targets
and report progress
- Engage with functional/operational stakeholders and other
subject matter experts to ensure sourcing strategy is aligned to
and capitalizes on supplier's capabilities to drive innovation
- Overall responsibility for identification, evaluation and the
approval process of new suppliers that meet Amcor performance
standards and compliance requirements. Drive cross functional teams
including but not limited to Quality, Operations, Functional and
Sales in this undertaking
- Develop budgets and targets based on aggressive, well founded,
realistic and forward oriented goals. Build monthly forecasts based
on performance and market conditions
- Provide day-to-day operational support to Plants and Supply
Chain, achieve compliance to the transportation vendor route guide
and manage carrier quality through the Vendor Incident Notification
process (8D's and claims) Pricing & Cost:
- Perform all necessary analysis demonstrating ROI on initiatives
and sourcing relationships, and present findings to executive
management
- Mentor team to understand the market(s) well enough to know who
the leaders in pricing and service are and drive to the lowest
possible total cost of ownership. Regularly organize and conduct
pricing benchmarks, competitive analysis
- Utilize, develop a broad skill set of RFQ, Benchmarking and
negotiation methodologies. Continuously improve staff technical,
commercial and negotiation capabilities to ensure versatility in
supplier meetings
- Drive commodity / category-level improvement programs and
develop/maintain a portfolio of cost saving projects that meet
Amcor targets for spend cost reduction
- Charter supplier negotiation and lead/participate the
negotiation with appointed teams. Negotiate agreements that address
the needs of Amcor. Lead negotiation with industry benchmarks /
pricing targets / data (fact-based negotiations) and knowledge
sharing. Responsible for provision of commercial sourcing expertise
to all functional budget holders
- Ensure team conducts various buying analyses, spend evaluations
and mode/network modeling on an on-going basis
- Drive full utilization of Amcor's Transportation Management
Systems (TMS). Leverage other IT technologies and eProcurement
tools to improve processes, increase productivity and decrease
costs
- Support Freight Bill Audit and Payment and Accounts
Payable/Receivable through invoice corrections, troubleshooting of
missing accruals as well as work with relevant 3rd Party vendors to
streamline auditing functions
- Overall responsibility for identification, evaluation and the
approval process of new suppliers that meet Amcor performance
standards and compliance requirements. Drive cross functional teams
including but not limited to Quality, Operations, Functional and
Sales in this undertaking
- Manage the supply base and leverage spends across regions and
other Amcor Business units. Establish supplier performance
management indicators related to cost, quality, delivery and total
cost-of-ownership Supply Base Development & Management:
- Maintain excellent relationships with current and prospective
vendor Senior Leadership and staff. Conduct due diligence and
analysis on perspective vendor relationships and develop long-term
alliances (including participation in purchasing
alliances/cooperatives) to ensure adequate and cost-effective
sourcing of products and services. Ensure ARP is communicating
vender expectations as "one voice" by facilitating and implementing
relationship matrixes for role clarity
- Establish long term, cost competitive supplier relationships at
high performance standards
- Lead efforts to move business towards preferred vendors. Work
with all stakeholders to understand the right number of suppliers
required. Minimize the amount of business with smaller suppliers or
where the Amcor spend is insignificant. Minimize risk and secure
supply
- Assess, rate and minimize risk regularly and lead mitigation
efforts. Indemnify Amcor through implementation of contracts,
Pricing and Supply Agreements
- Drive IT integration with key suppliers to automate
transactions and communication
- Build Supplier Relationship and drive Partnership to secure
access and collaboration with Supplier Executive Management. Drive
Supplier Partnership and Collaboration at all levels Compliance:
- Coordinate and support of financial systems and processes that
the procurement function utilizes including purchasing systems,
account payables, etc.
- Always ensure the Supply Base and Amcor procurement operates
within the framework of regulatory and legal requirements. These
include but are not limited to compliance with Safety,
Environmental, SOX, Tax, Customs and Ethical requirements and spend
guidelines
- Gain understanding and acceptance of respective documents, such
as the Amcor Code of Conduct, Amcor Terms and Conditions and cover
any other requirements through Supply Agreements. Coordinate
efforts with other Amcor Global Product Divisions to ensure
consistency with common suppliers and categories
- Actively support integration of procurement systems and tools,
i.e. TMS, to improve business performance. Identify and communicate
all system and process gaps to ensure sustainability of Procure
Plus value creation and capability development Communications:
- Answer complex inquires requiring interpretation of policies,
procedures, rules, regulations, and corporate direction
- Prepare and deliver presentations to recommend/change company
policy and to explain a process/obtain approval for corporate
expenditures
- Provide information to top management and appropriate personnel
of policy issues and corporate programs
- Manage questions/complaints from internal/external sources
regarding Purchasing policy, procedures, and practices
- Chair/participate on task forces, committees, or team groups
Relationships:
- Build and manage relationships with ARP Leadership Team and
other key internal stakeholders as trusted advisor on strategic and
tactical strategies and actions for assigned areas of
responsibility
- Build strong rapport with suppliers to position ARP as a
preferred and trusted business partner and ensure an uninterrupted
supply of quality goods at optimum cost
- Work closely with stakeholders at Amcor plants to establish
alignment with strategy and enable changes necessary to drive
improvements
- Collaborate closely with relevant departments to ensure
understanding and compliance with key procurement strategies
Qualifications: Education:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
required
- Master's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration
preferred
- Certification: Preferred PMP, C.P.M., CPSM, CPSD, CPIM or CSCP
certification
- Other education: Preferred Six Sigma, Should Cost Modeling,
Change Management, Project Management Experience:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in Supply Chain Management
(Logistics, Procurement, etc.) leading cross functional teams with
direct supervisory experience working in a matrix structured
environment at a world class company
- Experience in the manufacturing industry with multi state
locations
- Excellent analytic, problem solving, decision making, team
building, project management, strategic development, and change
management skills
- Skilled negotiator/results oriented with a track record of
delivering cost savings and comprehensive knowledge of sourcing and
category management
- Proven communication and organizational skills. Ability to
write reports and business correspondence and maintain business
procedure documentation
- Ability to interact and collaborate with various levels of
people internally and externally. Ability to work
cross-functionally, influence behaviors, and gain consensus
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks. Ensure issues
are addressed immediately and appropriate stake holders are kept
informed
- Understanding of general finance and make/buy analysis.
Understanding of contractual terms and conditions and how to
mitigate risks
- Ability to work across global regions and knowledge of Import
and Export regulations
- Strong data manipulation skills in Microsoft applications and
working knowledge of company information and data systems used by
