Primary Responsibilities:

As the Transmission & Distribution Line Section Manager, you are responsible for the operations and growth of the T&D section including staff growth, staff development, technical leadership, project management, quality control, strategic planning, marketing support and coordination with other disciplines.

Specific activities include:

• Supervise a team of APM's, Project Engineers, EITs and designers to provide oversight over workload, quality, utilization, team morale, training, and performing annual performance reviews of team members.
• Manage the growth of the section, including recruiting and hiring staff and developing and implementing business development and marketing plans, in coordination with Area and Practice leadership.
• Ensure that all work is planned, organized, controlled and evaluated through a pro-active project management system and be responsible for monitoring and supporting company policies.
• Coordinate with Area leadership to promote and ensure the work performed in the section meets the corporate and area Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and that a culture of quality is maintained in the section.
• Manage utilizations in the section to meet the operating goals of the Practice. Complete timely reporting to Area and Practice leadership as required.
• Maintain up to date and accurate workload and utilization forecasting per direction from leadership. Coordinate with Area marketing and client development leaders to facilitate pursuing and winning new business.
• Coordinate with Area leadership and Section Managers to support work-sharing efforts.
• Perform Project Reviews for project managers.
• Administer performance reviews and staff evaluations of direct reports.
• Monitor and manage staff morale in the section and provide leadership to promote a positive work environment.
• Responsible for understanding the Area safety policies and procedures and ensuring that they are understood and followed, in close coordination with the Office Safety Coordinator.
• Perform client management, project management and/or technical support activities.
• Encourage and participate in business and community activities as representative of HDR. #LI-BS1
  
  Qualifications
  
  Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical or Architectural preferred).
  • PE license required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience which includes the design, project execution and project management of transmission line projects.
  • Prior experience in the management and development of multi-discipline teams is desired.
  • Strong communication and listening skills a must.
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple assignments.
  • Good leadership, communication and organizational skills are essential.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must. Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience and client relationships in Michigan considered a strong advantage.
    • Track record of working cooperatively with diverse teams; regional, department, and technical managers; and project staff preferred.
    • Experience with transmission line, distribution line, and associated strategic services aspects (i.e., routing, permitting, public involvement, right of way acquisition) of projects with strong technical experience in design preferred.
    • Distribution line design experience a plus.
    • Experience working with Renewables developers and/or the interconnection of Renewables a plus.
